Dubai’s The Pointe hosting a mega mile-long swimming race

It’s not every day we get the chance to be appointed the king and queen of, well, anything, but if you swim as quick as a fish in water, you may just gain the title.

The Pointe on Palm Jumeirah is holding a one-off multi-distance swimming event next month, and the winners of its mile-long race will be crowned the ‘King and Queen’ of The Pointe.

Kicking off at the crack of dawn at 6.30am on Friday October 25, there will be different distance races open for men and women, including a 200m swim for ages eight to 11, a quarter-mile (0.4km) distance for all ages and half a mile (0.8) distance for ages 12 years and older.

As for those taking on the mile swimming race (1.4km) for ages 15 and above, they’ll be competing for the desirable titles.

Consider yourself an Atlantean? Get yourself signed up by visiting its site right here. Don’t leave it too late, as registration closes on Friday October 18.

Entry is priced from Dhs47.62 and varies for different ages, and it will get you a goody bag, live results, a medal, photo service, refreshments and timings.

Once you’ve finished the big race in the Arabian Gulf, check out what else there is to do at The Pointe with our handy guide.

If you’re more like a fish out of water and way more comfortable on a bike, BMX and MTB riders will want to sign up for the Red Bull Pump Track 2019, making its UAE debut this September.

Let the royal race commence…
From Dhs47.62. Fri Oct 25, 6.30am onwards. The Pointe, Palm Jumeirah, (04 457 8620).
