Ripe Market launches huge Skechers run

While the end of the summer season looms large, one of the city’s biggest weekend community hubs and markets is getting ready to welcome a huge running event.

Dust off those running shoes and get yourself registered for the Skechers Performance Run, the first in a series taking place at The Ripe Market at Academy Park in Umm Suqeim at the end of this month.

The first run of the 2019/2020 series is kicking off on Friday September 27, and registration is still open until Tuesday 24. You can take on the 10km run, or the more family friendly 5km and 2.5km distances. In fact, for the two shorter runs, kids aged under 12 can register for free when accompanied by an adult – now that’s a good way of getting the little ones into a bit of fitness this winter.

Registration costs Dhs110 for adults, and the race itself kicks off bright and early on the day itself, so set the alarm and head over to Umm Suqeim for 6am. Then perhaps go grab a bit of brekkie and make the most of the day.

Head to to register your place, and get involved – there are even prizes on offer for those who take part, can’t say fairer than that.

Meanwhile, Ripe Market is also home to a new “unleashed” dog park at the Ripe Market in Academy Park every weekend.

“If there’s one lesson we learned from last season, it is that Dubai has thousands of animal-lovers,” said the Ripe team. “And the biggest request we had almost every weekend was to launch a doggie park”.

So now you needn’t leave your pet behind when you’re buying your organic fruit and veg.
