Dubai to host its first ever ‘Sleep Challenge’

The best snoozers around the UAE stand the chance to win a specially-designed bed

Dubai to host its first ever ‘Sleep Challenge’

Is closing your eyes and napping at any given situation a skill of yours? Well, it’s time for your hidden talent to shine at Dubai World Trade Centre.

On Sunday September 16, the autumn edition of the INDEX exhibition will hold Dubai’s first ever Sleep Challenge in order to seek out the best snoozer around. That’s right, all you have to do is fall asleep to win.

Taking place smack in the middle of the Middle East’s interiors exhibition, the three-hour contest will "pit Dubai’s best nappers against one another to see who can enjoy the longest, most peaceful snooze".

It isn’t that easy though, as nappers, sleeping on mattresses from DeRUCCI, will have to slumber on the floors of the buzzing event, with all the noise from exhibitors and visitors.

If you fancy yourself the greatest snoozer the city has ever seen, all you have to do to enter is share your most bizarre sleep story in 150 words.

Make sure to submit your story on before Sunday September 2.

Only four contestants will be picked for the challenge, so be sure to have a cracking from slumber-land.

Crowned sleeping king? You’ll win yourself a brand-new bed which will be uniquely-designed to your sleeping patterns assessed by DeRUCCI’s digital mattress selecting system.

INDEX event director Samantha Kane-Macdonald said: “Increasingly, the ‘right bed’ is gaining importance in homes as well as hotels worldwide.

“DeRUCCI has just opened its flagship shop in Dubai and this unique contest taking place at the first autumn edition of INDEX, is a great way for the bed superstore to showcase its superior quality bed range that promises to make a good night's sleep a breeze”.

The competition comes in light of a recent survey by the University of Michigan in USA, concluding that in the UAE "90 percent of people are not getting enough sleep". This challenge is definitely a welcome step in the right direction.

As for the rest of the exhibition, visitors can look forward to The Hotel Show Dubai, The Leisure Show and the FIM show from Sunday September 16 until Tuesday.
