Kick-start your exercise routine with Dubai Fitness Challenge

The 30-day event kicks off this weekend with a massive carnival

It’s time to give your exercise routine a makeover, and the Dubai Fitness Challenge starts this week to spur you on.

After resounding success in 2017, the Dubai Fitness Challenge is back, starting on Friday (October 26) and running until Saturday November 24.

The aim is to encourage Dubai residents and citizens to do at least 30 minutes of exercise, every day for 30 days. Think you’re up to the challenge?

It all kicks off with a two-day carnival at Dubai Festival City this weekend (Friday October 26, 3pm-11pm and Saturday October 27, 1pm-8pm) so don’t miss your chance to kick-start your exercise regime.

There will be 26 fitness classes to choose from, plus a chance to win prizes. You can take part in free yoga sessions, interactive bike classes, Les Mills spinning classes, TRX zones and more. There are also kid-friendly sessions including trampolining, an inflatable assault course, toddler zones, kids’ yoga, basketball and more.

Other events this weekend include the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge build up ride 3 (October 26), World’s Ultimate Strongman Contest (October 26) City Swim at Kite Beach (October 27) and XDubai Spartan Women’s Race 2018 (October 27).

The initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council for Dubai Government, intends to make Dubai the most active city in the world.

Last year was massive, and this year it’s promised to be even bigger and better – with a full 30 days of activities across the city.

Participants can track their performance on the Dubai Fitness App and help make Dubai “the most active, healthiest, happiest, smartest city on the planet”.

The event last year encouraged 786,000 citizens and residents in the city, of all ages and fitness levels, to commit to 30 consecutive minutes of daily physical activity for 30 days.

This year, as Dubai continues its mission to be the most active city in the world, the goal is for more one million participants to take part.
There will be a range of fitness activities, free facilities and sports across the city, as well as weekend fitness carnivals.

Activities will vary from walking to team sports, intense fitness regimes, paddleboarding, group fitness classes to football, yoga and cycling, so there’s plenty to turn your hand to.

It doesn’t matter about your age, skills or fitness, everyone is encouraged to join in and try something new.
