Summer golf deals in Dubai

The best seasonal discounts, including a Time Out exclusive

1/3

If you’ve ever so much as researched the cost of playing golf, you’ll be aware it’s not the cheapest of sports. With green fees sometimes touching Dhs750 in peak season, it’s no wonder the fairways are largely left to corporates and high-fliers. But during summer, the city’s courses aim to attract players outdoors with a raft of promotions, from discounted lessons with PGA pros to golf and a meal for half the price – some even throw in pool access. Though you’ll find plenty of great deals all over town, take a peek at our three favourites before booking a round this season.

Arabian Ranches Golf Club
The course: Designed as a desert-style course, the 18-hole par-72 course spans 247 acres, boasts immaculate fairways and greens and is surrounded by indigenous shrubbery and the ‘sandy waste’ of the area’s natural terrain, posing a challenge for golfers of all abilities. We recommend stopping in at the Ranches Restaurant and Bar for a cold drink after a round, where you can take in picture-perfect views (shamal-free weather permitting) over the ninth and 18th holes.

Summer deal: There are three offers on this summer: Monday Madness, where UAE residents pay Dhs255 for 18 holes; Thursday Four Player Special, where four UAE residents can play a round for Dhs995; and the Weekday Ranches Big Day Out, where groups of six or more can play a round followed by food and cold drinks at Birdies Sports Lounge for Dhs225 per person. All of these deals run until Sunday September 30.

Exclusive for Time Out readers: Take along a copy of this article and play 18 holes Sunday to Thursday for Dhs199 per person. Valid until Friday August 31.

Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club
The course: Located on the banks of Dubai Creek, this 18-hole championship course offers a great challenge and fantastic views. It’s been open since 1993, and its famous clubhouse (which has been likened to a miniature Sydney Opera House) is pictured on the UAE’s Dhs20 note. Skilled players can aim for the current course record of 63, jointly held by Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke, while novices can head to the nine-hole par-three course and golf academy.

Summer deal: There are several offers up for grabs, but our favourite is ‘A Day at the Club’, where UAE residents can enjoy a round on the 18-hole course, including range balls and cart hire, plus a sandwich or snack at LakeView restaurant, an ice cream at LakeView or the pool bar, and complimentary pool access for each player and a guest for the whole day. The deal is priced at Dhs325 on weekdays, and Dhs375 on Fridays and Saturdays. Alternatively, you can pay for one round on the nine-hole par-three course (Dhs80 for adults, Dhs60 for EGF members and juniors) and play as much as you like. Both deals are valid until Sunday September 30.

The Els Club
The course: Home to the world’s first Els course by Ernie Els (he’s since opened another in South Africa), the 18-hole course stretches 7,358 yards, with four sets of tees providing golfers with a range of lengths from which to play. It has hosted a number of charity tournaments, and holds ladies’, men’s and mixed opens annually.

Summer deal: Though daily rates are also available, The Els Club summer pass, priced at Dhs3,995 per person, grants holders unlimited midweek golf from Sunday to Thursday until Sunday September 30. It includes use of a golf cart with GPS, towels and tees, plus use of the club’s practice facilities with TaylorMade range balls, and a club-fitting session. You’ll also get three free guest passes, and a SAM PuttLab evaluation at
The Butch Harmon School of Golf. There are also deals on lessons throughout the summer for those looking to brush up.
