Three massive sporting events to look forward to

Kobe Bryant is in town and the FIFA U-17 World Cup is on the way

From now until the end of the year, Dubai looks set to host more triathlons and biathlons than ever, taking in events at Jebel Ali Golf Resort, Al Mamzar and more, many of which you can sign up to through Premier Marathons (www.premiermarathons.com). The city’s cycling scene is also set to grow, with another 104km of track completed over the summer and more yet to come, all while the city’s cycle clubs continue to expand their reach, with new rides now being operated by several, including Ride Bike Shop’s Ride Club (www.facebook.com/ridebikeshop).

Indoorwalking revamp

Over summer, Dubai’s Indoorwalking centre, a gym dedicated to classes using the elliptical – or cross – trainer, underwent a total refurbishment and starting from Saturday September 14 will be offering fitness assessments, body-composition analysis, ‘MyZone’ monitoring and a total elliptic programme featuring two new classes, one dedicated to upper and another to lower body. Kobe Bryant Health & Fitness Weekend
The world-famous basketball player and star of the LA Lakers will be coaching a basketball skills clinic in Abu Dhabi on Thursday September 26, before heading down to Dubai on Friday September 27. Bryant will coach a celebrity basketball game (starring, among others, local radio hosts and American artist Soulja Boy) and judge a slam-dunk competition at the American University in Dubai.

FIFA U17 World Cup UAE 2013
The 15th edition of the football championship is this year held in the UAE, featuring 52 exciting games in total, with Dubai matches to be held at the city’s Al Rashid Stadium between Saturday October 19 and Tuesday November 5. Dhs51 (category 2), Dhs240 (category 1). The price includes all matches on all six days of play, semi-finals and finals.
