If you haven’t got a steep mountain from which to launch yourself and paraglide down, why not try your hand at the motorised version of the sport that will allow you to take-off from almost anywhere? You’ll be elevated by a small motor attached to a propeller that you hoist onto your back. The contraption is connected to a standard paraglider, and as long as you’re facing a headwind of no more than 20mph, you simply take a run-up and lift off, reaching heights of up to 3,000 metres.
Flysometime offers professional training based on the British Microlight Aircraft Association (BMAA) syllabus with qualified instructors. Book a full paramotor course from absolute beginner to qualified pilot, or take the upgrade course that will help you switch from paragliding or other air sports to paramotoring. Theory lessons take place in a classroom at the Jazirah Aviation Club in Ras Al Khaimah, with practise lessons also taking place at the club or at alternative locations in Dubai depending on weather conditions.
The Dubai Paragliding Club also offers paramotoring training in Dubai as well as the picturesque town of Interlaken in Switzerland – check the website for full details.
