This European-style bike hire service is a good option if you want to do some cycling but aren’t competitive about it. Just register online, head down to one of the various rental stations and get pedalling.

Cycle Safe Dubai
Cyclists nervous of Dubai’s busy roads will be pleased to know that every Wednesday, Dubai Autodrome is cleared of cars and motorbikes to make way for cyclists, joggers and even the odd rollerblader. For details, check out the Cycle Safe Dubai website.

These enthusiasts are serious about cycling. Events include weekly rides and training rides as well as tours through the desert and trips through the mountains of the UAE. There’s also the occasional competitive race. Details can be found on the Roadsters’ website.
