What is the best thing about being a fitness instructor?
It’s a blessing to be able to share something you love so much with others; to know that every day I help people change their lives for the better in one way or another. We’re so lucky to meet people from all walks of life on a daily basis and to be able to travel with our skills, too. I’ve made so many friends through working in this industry. It’s how I found my husband, too!
What sparked your interest in living a healthier lifestyle and what were your first steps to achieving this goal?
I was a party animal at university, then one day I tried to run on the treadmill, but I didn’t last four minutes. It was a real wake-up call… Things had to change. So I got a personal trainer and hit the gym every day at 5am. The effects I felt were incredible. I felt amazing and looked great. It was then that I knew I wanted to help others feel the same way. That was when I was 19. I haven’t turned back since.
Tell us about your class…
My Cross Over 2 Yoga class bridges the gap between athletics and yoga. Its principles are drawn from Yin Yoga, which focuses on making connective tissue more pliable. My class is slow and practitioners need to spend time holding the poses. The great thing about it is, it’s only 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the programming
Why should we work out with you?
Everyone needs to give in to the yin, if you like. I can relate to athletes and yogis, but I’m there for everyone and I make sure everyone leaves my sessions feeling successful.
