We’ve all done it before – bought that annual gym membership after being swept up in the New Year, new you hype, then quit before it’s even Valentine’s Day. But a number of clever new apps now offer flexibility, so you can stay active and try out a new sport in a convenient way, so you don’t lose your money or your motivation.

ClassDive
Become a member of ClassDive by downloading the app and paying a membership fee of Dhs399 per month. There are no contracts or cancellation fees, and membership gives you access to 40 studios across Dubai. Sign up before Sunday January 31 and you’ll only need to pay Dhs299 per month (for a period of
12 months).

Core Direction
This app gives fitness fans a corporate discount of 15 to 50 percent on memberships at more than 35 independent gyms across the UAE. Companies can sign up for free and employees can then gain access to the discounted rates for single, monthly or annual sessions. Free to register.

Game Play Sport
With this app, sports fans can get involved with more than 1,300 activities, join more than 400 clubs and discover more than 50 sports, including skiing, volleyball and water polo. Members pay Dhs499 monthly to attend ten different classes with the month and will soon be able to attend 20 classes for Dhs899 per month. Members can cancel at any time.

Go Golf
Golf club membership can be expensive, but this new app allows players to book last-minute tee times across the UAE. Useful for visitors and residents who may fancy that spur of the moment round, the app is constantly updated and only accepts bookings made on the day (or day before) you want to play.

Guava Pass
Founded in Singapore, the app has now come to our shores. For Dhs499 per month, it offers its members the opportunity to attend an unlimited number of classes in a month (but only three per month at the same studio). Members also get access to workouts in Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Sydney – an added benefit for expats.

Classport
Launched in 2015, this membership app recently partnered with XYoga Dubai, using it's access to many of the most popular studios around town. Among the other venues on board is The Warehouse Gym, Exhale, Pride Fitness and Piloga. Members get unlimited access every month, with prices starting from Dhs339.
