Interview with golf club pro in Dubai

Time Out has a quickfire interview with golf club pro in Dubai. Here we speak to Emirates Golf Club’s head pro, Stephen Deane about golf in Dubai

Stephen Deane, 33
Emirates Golf Club’s head pro has several UAE PGA titles to his name

When did you first swing a club?
I first picked up a golf club at the age of 16. My father persuaded me to join him for a game at the local course. I must say, it was love at first swing, and has been my passion ever since.

How many rounds do you play a week?

Believe it or not, when you work in the industry, it’s sometimes difficult to get time on the course. I have a tight schedule, but try and squeeze in nine holes each week and 36 holes during the summer.

How much do you enjoy coaching?

I have a real passion for it; it’s what I get the most enjoyment and satisfaction from. Each day is exciting and challenging in its own way.

What is your proudest golfing moment?

Competing in the 2010 Omega Dubai Desert Classic after successfully winning the European Tour pre-qualifying event.

Which is your least favourite hole at EGC?

None of them. Any time spent on the golf course is a good time!
