If you’re after a fresh competitive challenge, then it might be time to join the city’s newest rugby team.
DSC Eagles, based in Dubai Sports City, has launched ahead of the new rugby season and will run twice-weekly training sessions (on Monday and Wednesday evenings), matches and more.
DSC Eagles is open to men and women of all levels and aims to “bring people together through sport”. It will have youth, junior and senior divisions and teams will play in the UAE Rugby Federation Leagues, from minis through to premiership level.
“Our aim is to be the largest and most community-driven rugby club in the region, which echoes the community ethos of Dubai Sports City,” says Dubai Sports City president, Khalid Al Zarooni.
The team will be overseen by UAE international Sean Carey, with input from Pat Benson, a former Ireland Under 19 international and Worcester Warriors player, as well as Josh Ives, also a UAE international player.
“We have a clear direction for the team over the next three years from player pathways to winning competitions, but right now we are focused on pre-season training and getting the team ready for our inaugural match on September 22,” says Carey.
Members from all levels of the DSC Eagles will be able to benefit from twice-weekly training sessions at the DSC Eagles’ home ground, Sports Park, as well as weekly gym sessions at the PowerBase Gym.
You’ll also get benefits including discounts at Kickers Sports Bar and Big Easy Bar & Grill, plus access to the athletics track. What more reason do you need to join?
