Dubai International Boat Show returns

Discover new ways to hit the water until March 4

The 25th edition of the Dubai International Boat Show is in full flow – and has even received the royal seal of approval.

Held once again at the Dubai International Marine Club, the five-day event showcases the crème de la crème of the boating world, with a raft of product launches to get any enthusiast excited.

And what’s more, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, was one of the first guests through the door on Tuesday, heaping praise on the UAE-based maritime companies competing so admirably with their overseas counterparts.

Among the highlights of the show will be the chance to take the world’s fastest personal submarine for a test drive. Modelled on the RAF’s MSC Sleeping Beauty used during World War II, the super-cool Ortega Submersible is powered by two 10 KWh electric thrusters and can take you to depths of up to 95m at a speed of 12.7mph.

However, if you prefer to keep your head above water then check out the Dive Middle East Exhibition where you can have a go at an array of water sports such as stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and windsurfing.

Of course, if you’ve got a spare Dhs3 million lying around, you could always check out the 16-seater Wajer 38, launched at the event by Jalboot, which will take you from zero to 45 knots in no time.

Dhs60 (free for children under-12). Until March 4. 3pm-9.30pm. Dubai International Marine Club, Mina Seyahi,
