Swim the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah

Get your Speedos on and hit the open water for charity

If you’ve ever driven past the Burj Al Arab, or longingly stared at it from 360o and thought, “I could swim around that”, then you’re in luck.

The Dubai Holding Burj Al Arab Swim is back for its 13th year, where up to 700 swimmers are preparing for a 1,600 meter open water swim in the Arabian Gulf– all in the name of a good cause. The event will be supporting Al Jalila Foundation’s Obesity Research campaign, and features as an official event of Dubai Sports Council. With 2017 being the UAE’s Year of Giving, what better way is there to dust off those lungs of yours, get your Speedos on and take the plunge?

If you can get your head up from the water amid panicked swimming strokes and furious wheezing, you’re even promised a cracking view of one of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks. Even if you don’t get to spend much time staring at the Burj while you’re swimming, you’ll probably end up with a decent profile picture for Facebook or Instagram out of it.

But wait, there’s more – top finishers will be treated to a range of prizes courtesy of Jumeirah Group, while all swimmers get a free day pass to Wild Wadi Waterpark plus a 50 percent discount for a friend, who presumably didn’t do the swim with you. So not only is there a chance to swim around the Burj Al Arab, but you can also then rub in the face of your lazy mate as you treat him or her to a lovely day out.
