Weekend Fitness Carnival marks the end of the 30-day fitness challenge

Dubai Festival City hosts a huge celebration including special appearances and a world record attempt

The 30 day Dubai fitness challenge is drawing to an end, and we think we deserve a party.

Luckily for us, so do the guys at Dubai Festival City, who are putting on a huge carnival this weekend, including special appearances from top athletes, a world record attempt, a spectacular water and light show and an elaborate fireworks display – who knew we’d get such praise for getting off the couch?

The festivities kick off on Friday November 17 and run throughout the weekend, featuring a special guest appearance from world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua on Saturday 18. He’ll be putting revellers through their paces with a high-octane group workout.

There will also be Zumba fusion classes, freestyle football, ballet, yoga, functional training sessions and more across the course of the celebrations.

You can even land yourself in the Guinness Book of Records for the most amount of people attempting jump squats on Friday 17.

And if you feel that you’ve more than exerted yourself recently, you can sit back and enjoy a breathtaking water and light show, before fireworks light up the city’s skyline.

To add to the line-up, the Dragon Boat racing competition is scheduled to take place on Friday 17 from 1pm. The much anticipated event will see teams of rowers ploughing through the sparkling waters around Dubai Festival City in front of cheering spectators.

There is also plenty to keep the kids entertained, with a Children’s Fun and Fitness Zone featuring trampolines, climbing walls, parkour sessions and Les Mills exercise classes, designed specifically for children between two and 12.

Tim Earnest, group director of retail malls, leisure and hospitality for Dubai Festival City, said, “Visitors to Dubai Festival City Mall are in for a real treat this weekend as we are pulling out all the stops to make this a Dubai Fitness Challenge Closing Ceremony to remember. We are expecting thousands of people to come down to Festival Bay and join in with all the activities and entertainment going on throughout the weekend, as there really is something for everyone.”
