WATCH: Dubai’s coolest fishing trip

The best way to catch (and cook) your own fish in Dubai

Sports & Outdoor

Getting up at 5am is no easy task at the best of times, but getting up at the crack of dawn on a Saturday for a morning spent fishing is one of the most serene(ish) ways of kick-starting your day.

Xclusive Yachts and Xclusive Fishing, the Dubai Marina-based boat rental company, lay on boats for fishing excursions (through its Xclusive Fishing arm) or fun days spent out at sea. Grab a boat and take to the water, where you can get your hands on a fully-equipped vessel with experienced fishermen there to guide the most fish-ignorant rookie through the basics of fishing.

By the end of it, you’ll be ready to wrestle a six-footer out of the water and onto the grill. Not that you’ll find many of those in the Arabian Gulf.

There are, however, plenty of delicious fishes you can catch, and the team from Time Out took to the water to catch and cook up the freshest meal around.

Watch the video below to see how the Time Out team got on, and how they survived some hilariously choppy waters at 6.30am on their way out to sea. A new episode is out every Thursday, so let us know what you’d like to see us do around this awesome city.

While you’re at it, why not check out the rest of our series? We’ve jumped out of planes and off of mountains and skyscrapers, we’ve eaten the spiciest, most ridiculous food in Dubai, we’ve gone racing against YouTube superstars, and we’ve even been kissed by a sea lion.
