Heading down to practise a few laps of karting is fun, but if you fancy yourself a speed demon on the tracks, the Sodi World Series (SWS) is a tournament you need to enter.
Dubai Kartdrome, in Dubai Motor City, will be hosting a special challenge over the next few weeks, and all you need to bring is a sense of victory.
The challenge is based on an “Arrive and Drive” concept, which means the kart, suit, helmet and gloves will be provided so everyone has a chance to show off their fast and furious skills.
The first round will start on Monday May 21, with other rounds taking place every Monday until June 11.
Each night will consist of a qualifying round and three races, and will take place on the Dubai Kartdrome outdoor circuit.
Multiple categories for all ages will be available, with the Junior Cup for ages seven to 14 and Senior Cup for ages 15 and above.
Who said the older folk can’t take part? For ages 35 and above, there will be a Masters Cup too.
Prices per round are at Dhs495 for the Junior Cup, and Dhs595 for the Senior and Masters Cup.
But hold your horses (or karts, in this instance), as drivers must have posted a minimum lap time of one minute 14 seconds on the outdoor circuit to be eligible for the Senior Cup or Masters Race.
Participants for the Junior Cup must set a lap time at the indoor circuit of less than 39 seconds.
Qualified? Drivers will be racing for a chance to win a ticket to the annual Sodi World Series Grand Final in France, so put that pedal to the metal.
For a list of dates and to register, head right over to the Dubai Autodrome website.
If you’re looking to show some support rather than getting in the driver’s seat, Dubai Kartdrome will also be holding an iftar for those seeking some good grub.
If you never had the chance to unleash your inner speedracer, here's the perfect shot.
Dhs495 per round (Junior Cup), Dhs595 per round (Senior and Masters Cup). Mon May 21, May 28, Jun 4, Jun 11; 7pm-11pm. Dubai Kartdrome, Dubai Motor City (800 527 8464).
