One of the biggest tests of endurance is happening right here in the beautiful deserts of Dubai, and it’s going to take four days to complete.
Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve will host the world's longest ultra-run across the dunes at a distance of 270km. Yeah, you’re going to need a lot of time and water to finish this one.
It will be held between December 11 and 14 and will have prizes for three categories – male, female and team.
A trophy and a grand prize of $6,000 (Dhs22,000) will go to the first place man and woman, along with further trophies and cash for second and third place.
Challengers will also be able to take on the 100km and 50km ultramarathons, which are offering cash prizes and medals to be won.
Want to have a go? Be sure to reserve your spot before Saturday September 1 to get a reduced early-bird entry fee.

For the 270km run, the Dhs5,800 fee includes bus transport, accommodation in a camp (depending on which race you take), a hefty main meal before the race starts as well as a medal and t-shirt when you finish.
Entrants need to be aged over 18 years old and provide a medical certificate to show their ability to participate in a race –along with being extremely physically fit, of course.
Tents will be pitched throughout the course and there will be water rations on the route and in the camp.
A medical team of doctors and paramedics will also be supervising the race, which is organised by the Dubai Sports Council, in case of injury or exhaustion.
