Saudi National Day: Where to celebrate in Dubai

There will be fireworks at La Mer, plus discounts across the city

It's Saudi National Day today (Sunday September 23), and all sorts of exciting celebrations are going on across the city.

From the Burj Khalifa lighting up in green to special discounts for Saudi nationals, Dubai is going all out to commemorate the 1932 establishment of the Kingdom.

We're most excited about the stunning fireworks display at beachfront leisure destination La Mer at 8.30pm tonight.

The skies will be illuminated in a shimmering wall of colour and it'll all be synchronised to music.

There will also be a traditional Saudi dance display at 7pm and 8.40pm.

Meanwhile, Roxy Cinema at The Beach, JBR, is screening a selection of Saudi short films including The Other, The Wedding Dress, Desert Eagle and The Departed.

Alternatively, half-price tickets are on offer at Reel Cinemas movie theatres at The Dubai Mall and Dubai Marina Mall.

Saudi citizens will also get 20 percent off the price of a ticket to Burj Khalifa's At The Top observation deck, and the same discount is available at IMG Worlds of Adventure.

Families headed to The Dubai Mall can also take advantage of a 50 percent discount at Dubai Aquarium and Water Zoo as well as half-price entry to Kidzania and Dubai Ice Skating Rink.
Fireworks: 8.30pm, Sun 23 Sep. La Mer, Jumeirah 1, www.lamerdubai.ae (800 637 227).
