6 amazing things to do at Dubai International Boat Show 2019

The 27th Dubai International Boat Show is right around the corner, but if you’ve been to any of the previous ones, you’ll know it isn’t just about the boats.

The biggest MENA marine event this year will feature a host of high-flying aquatic championships, scuba diving presentations and even a “deep dive” interaction activity where guests can learn the ways of diving.

Taking place from Tuesday February 26 until Saturday March 2, see the list below to see when you can check out each championship.

Tickets are priced from Dhs55 for adults and Dhs25 for those aged 13 to 17, but if you get your ticket right now you’ll get a nifty 15 percent discount. To get your tickets, visit www.800tickets.com.

Looking for more marine activities? Nikki Beach Dubai will be hosting the UAE's huge Open Surf Competition, along with a whole beach festival.

Dive In
Want to learn the ways from the divers of the deep? The boat show will feature an interactive pool experience from Bermuda Diving Center, which will let people discover scuba diving by getting suited up and getting in the pool. Best part? It’s completely free.

The diving centre will also have shows that teach guests how to blow bubbles underwater, how the equipment works, and divers will even play cards and football underwater.

Each day will finish with a competition, to see who can put on their equipment the fastest, in and out of water.
Free. Tue Feb 26-Thu Feb 28, 3.30pm-8.30pm.

UAE International Waterbike Championship
Looking for some speedy aquatic action? Champions from around the world, including USA, UK, Spain, Russia, Japan and many more, are all gearing up to face each other in the UAE International Waterbike Championship.

Taking place on Saturday March 2, the water motorists will speed through the Dubai Canal to see who’s the fastest in the water. Not one to be missed on the sidelines.
Sat Mar 2, 10am-noon and 3pm-5pm.

Flyboard Championship
Water athletes at the boat show won’t just be on the water, they’ll be hovering well above it. The flyboarding competition will see the region’s best boarders perform flips, tricks and some incredible stunts.

Even if you’re not cheering anyone on, these flyboarders are amazing to watch when pulling off their best tricks. Don’t miss out.
Fri Mar 1, 6pm-7pm.

Free-style Competition
If you prefer some motorised stunts, the waterbike free style competition will give you the stunts you crave.

Competitors will have a maximum of three minutes to present their best stunts in front of a jury of experts and pro riders. Expect a lot of flips, twirls and “wows” from the crowd.
Fri Mar 1, 6.30pm-7pm.

Dubai Fishing Competition
The Dubai International Boat Show will be hosting the finale of the three-round Dubai Fishing Competition, and is pitting the best anglers in the region against each other to see who can catch the heaviest fish.

There’s big money for the winner, and guests at the boat show will get the chance to see the catches of the day.
Tue Feb 26-Fri Mar 1, from 5pm.

Dive MENA Expo
Diving experts from around the world are coming together at the Dive MENA Expo to show off their knowledge and research about the deep blue sea.

They’ll cover a range of topics for divers and snorkelers, including diving tracks, marine encounters, conservation of sharks and much more.

Expect big names such as Nico Ghersinich, founder of Sea Masters; Imran Ahmad, photographer at Escape Inc in Singapore; Ernst Van Der Poll, founder and CEO of Connect Ocean and many more.
Thu Feb 28-Sat Mar 2, 5pm-6pm and 7pm-8pm.
