Ever wonder what it must have been like to travel through the desert via camel caravan back in the day? This new Bedouin experience will let you experience just that, and then some.

Platinum Heritage is now offering the chance to explore the 1920s Emirati lifestyle with its newly-launched “Al Marmoom Desert Experience”, and guests can do it in the morning or afternoon.

Whether you’re an early bird or more of an evening owl, each experience starts off with a traditional 25-minute camel caravan through the desert, learning about the ships of the desert and life in the desert for the nomadic Bedouin.

Travellers will then make a pit stop to set up traditional majlis and watch a falcon show to learn all there is to know about falconry in Dubai. And to check out how cool they are, of course.

Guests will then arrive at a traditional Bedouin village right next to a beautiful desert oasis in Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve, where they can explore and learn about popular spices and handicrafts.

Once that’s done, guests will check out the preparation of a typical Bedouin breakfast or dinner, and even take part in it. Great for those looking for some new cooking tricks.

Don’t fret, it isn’t just about the watching, as guests will then be served the traditional meal, including live cooking stations to pick from and a series of local dishes.

To finish up, visitors can spend time with local Bedouin, listen to their stories and even learn how to Ayala dance.

Signing up? The morning Bedouin experience lasts five hours and is priced at Dhs495 for adults, Dhs395 for kids aged five to 11 and Dhs195 for kids below five – with pick up time around 6.30pm (times vary on season).

As for the six-hour evening experience priced at Dhs595 for adults, Dhs495 for kids aged five to 11 and Dhs245 for kids below five, pick up time is at 4pm.

For more traditional Emirati experiences, Seven Sands in JBR has set up a new “Cultural Brunch” that will treat you to authentic Emirati dishes and teach you all about them.
