Celebrate the Queen’s birthday with a special five-course menu on the QE2

We’ve all seen The Crown, watched the Royal Weddings and are up to date with all things to do with the British Royal Family.

And just because we’re not on British soil it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t celebrate Queen Elizabeth's birthday. And where better than on a ship named after her?

Luckily, the most British of floating vessels is docked in one of our city’s own ports, and we intend to take to the decks to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday in a proper fashion.

On Sunday April 21, The Queen will be turning 93, and to celebrate the QE2 are laying on a special five-course meal complete with a slice of birthday cake for Dhs395.

The birthday feast will be available from Saturday April 20 until Friday April 26 at Queens Grill – but that’s not all that’s going on to honour The Queen.

There’ll also be a Very British Birthday Lunch on Saturday April 20 with a hearty roast, giant Yorkshire puds at Lido Restaurant for Dhs195 for adults with a classic British beverage. You can also pay an extra Dhs150 for two hours of unlimited house beverages.

The Band of HM Royal Marines, Plymouth will also be playing you through the afternoon (from 4pm) until sunset, and the show is absolutely free to attend.

For those who aren’t familiar with the Queen’s history with the QE2, the monarch inaugurated the ship on September 20 1967 at the John Brown’s shipyard in Clydebank.

She would later sail on board, making the QE2 the first passenger ship that a reigning monarch would ever travel on

Dhs395 (five-course dinner). Sat Apr 20 until Fri Apr 26, 7pm-11pm. Queens Grill, QE2 Mina Rashid, Deira, www.qe2.com (04 526 8811).
