Four free things to do outside today

While the weather is still cool(ish), it’s time to get outside and explore the city before summer really hits

Plan a park day
Bay Avenue Park

A jogging track, two outdoor gyms, a skate park, a trampolining area, butterfly shaped light installations, lush green gardens, and uninterrupted views of the Burj Khalifa all make for a lovely neighbourhood park. It also conveniently has a Spinneys nearby so why not grab some snacks, bring a picnic blanket along and make an evening out of it. The shining star at this park is the free open-air skatepark that attracts all levels of skateboarders. It’s quite small, and all concrete, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s easy. There are ramps to drop in, ledges, rails and slopes to grind and it is accessible for all levels and ages. Go later in the day for the cooler temperatures.

Try your hand at basketball
JLT Park and basketball courts
Greenery always helps complete a neighbourhood, and Cluster O through to Cluster R in Jumeirah Lake Towers has a lovely long bank of grass, which you’ll see filled with joggers in the morning, yoga enthusiasts in the evening and picnickers throughout the day during the cooler months. There’s an always-busy basketball court behind Cluster O, too.

Take a stroll along The Beach
The Beach

Reminiscent of the European al fresco dining scene, you’ll be reminded of trips to Greece, Italy and Spain just strolling through the area which has a plethora of international food options right on the street. As well as a kids’ play park, you’ll find a running track, an al fresco gym and plenty of shops and stalls. Lazing on the beach, watching the camel riders head up and down the sandy stretch and catching some rays is definitely one of our favourite things to do.
