There’s a full season of racing, culminating in the Dubai World Cup

Go to the races at Meydan

The sport of kings reigns supreme in Dubai. Not only is the globe’s greatest horse racing stable, Godolphin, owned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, but one of the planet’s richest races is held here, too.

The horse racing seasons gets up and running in November at Meydan Racecourse, culminating with the prestigious Dubai World Cup at the end of March. The eagerly-awaited meeting is one of the biggest sporting and social events of the year, with 60,000 race-goers dressed to the nines for the occasion. Seriously, it’s not just the equine competitors on parade.

An international crop of riders and horses will be jockeying for position in a bid to claim a share of the US$10 million jackpot once again in 2019. Plus, once the last horse is past the post, it’s time for the post-race gig; always a spectacular event.
