Celebrate Shark Awareness Day in Dubai

Did you know sharks have some of the largest brains of all fish species and have complex social behaviour? Just one of the handy facts you might get from Shark Awareness Day.

Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is celebrating all things fins and teeth today (Sunday July 14), and give guests an in-depth look at its different breeds of shark.

Aiming to give visitors a chance to learn more about these amazing creatures in their habitat, The Dubai Mall has bamboo sharks, grey reef sharks, bonnethead sharks, sandbar sharks, leopard sharks, tawny nurse sharks, a collection of sand tiger sharks and many other species of sharks.

The aquarium will also highlight the successfully hatched eggs through its ongoing breeding programme. The shark nursery lets visitors see developing embryos within its protective egg casing; which can be moving within the transparent egg case.

The shark species successfully breed and lay eggs within their habitats at the aquarium, and its aquarist team carefully removes these eggs to place them in the dedicated shark nursery to keep them safe and healthy.

Want to give them all a visit? Guests can get 25 percent off a shark diving experience right now by visiting www.thedubaiaquarium.com and booking their tickets online.

You can also visit the aquarium and visit the nursery for just Dhs130, thanks to the 25 percent discount.

We gave it a go, and as you can see below, “we did not want to get out”.

Dhs595 (shark diving experience), Dhs130 (Dubai Aquarium and nursery). Sunday July 14 (Shark Awareness Day). Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, The Dubai Mall, Downtown Dubai (056 177 8868).
