You can now train sharks at Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo

Imagine being able to tell everyone that you’ve trained a real-life shark. It’s a badge of honour to proudly wear, and you can now get it at The Dubai Mall.

The mall’s Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is giving patrons of the city a chance to get up close and personal with sharks to learn about their environment and feeding habits, and to get into the tank to train them. Now that’s cool.

Taking place daily at 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm, the 30-minute sessions will let wannabe trainers go behind the scenes to assist the aquarium staff in training bamboo sharks and leopard sharks.

The best part? There’s no swimming required, as guests will only be submerged waist-high.

The family-friendly experience is for six amateur trainers at a time, accompanied by a professional trainer to guide them through the experience. And it's just Dhs100 a session.

Looking for more things to do this weekend? The Dubai Mall is extending its opening hours throughout the break.

We’ve had tremendous fun with some sharks ourselves. See how we got on below:
