The Friends sofa is coming to Dubai’s Burj Khalifa

It’s one of the world’s most famous sofas, and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of a legendary US sitcom, it’s coming to Dubai very soon.

On Sunday September 22, the couch from TV sitcom Friends is going to be put on display in Dubai, at Downtown Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, according to reports coming out of the U.S.

The show’s premiere aired back in 1994, and during its ten-season run amassed 236 episodes. Beloved by millennials and Gen X, the show was deemed the most popular in history during its record-breaking stint on TV, and it’s been making a resurgence in the last couple of years as a new generation of viewers tune into boxsets made available on Netflix.

Now you’ll be able to check out one of the replica couches, which is arriving in Dubai later this month as part of a global campaign to celebrate the show. Friends made global stars out of the actors who played the six main characters – Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer.

Couches will placed in famous spots around the world, including the Grand Canyon in the U.S., Abbey Road in London, the Triton Fountain in Rome, Stonehenge in the UK and the Empire State Building in the show’s home city of New York.

Stay tuned for more information, but for more 1990s Netflix suggestions, check this out.
