Best things to do in Jumeirah Lake Towers

Live in JLT and fancy trying out something different this weekend (yes, other than brunching)? Here’s our round-up of the best things to do in the neighbourhood.

For everything you need to know about JLT, see our essential list here and for the latest news, check out our JLT area guide.

Play in the park
JLT Park and basketball courts

Greenery always helps complete a neighbourhood, and Cluster O through to Cluster R has a lovely long bank of grass, which you’ll see filled with joggers in the morning, yoga enthusiasts in the evening and picnickers throughout the day during the winter months. There’s an always-busy basketball court behind Cluster O, too.

Lock yourself in a room… and then escape from it
Phobia Escape Rooms
You’re either going to have an awesome bonding experience, or leave never wanting to speak to each other again in an escape room. Gather up to five of your mates and head to Phobia. There are six different games, including a Harry Potter-themed one.
From Dhs115 per person. Open daily 11am-midnight and advance reservation is required. Jumeirah Bay X1, Cluster X and Red Diamond Building opposite Cluster Y, Jumeirah Lake Towers, www.phobia.ae (050 873 0445/052 797 4916).

Challenge your friends
Rails

From PC games, PS4, billiards and foosball, Rails is a one-stop gaming destination. Grab your mates for a day of some, ahem, friendly competition and plenty of games. They also host events like FIFA and Fortnite tournaments for the more serious of gamers.
Open daily 10am-2.30am. Red Diamond Building opposite Cluster Y, Jumeirah Lake Towers, www.rails.ae (04 423 7742).

Become a top chef
SCAFA
The JLT restaurant scene is extensive and flourishing, meaning the temptation to neglect your own kitchen is high. Why not switch things up and get your apron on. SCAFA, aka the School of Culinary and Finishing Arts, is a culinary hotspot for amateurs who want to learn the basics or add new dishes to their repertoire, as well as aspiring pros aiming for an entry-level qualification to kick-start their career as a chef.
Prices vary with different programmes available. Open Sat-Thu and advance reservation is required. Cluster I, Jumeirah Lake Towers, www.scafa.ae (04 379 4044).
