UAE National Day 2019, is fast approaching and with it comes a long weekend.

With the UAE Cabinet approving a three-day holiday Sunday December 1 for Commemoration Day and two days' holiday for UAE National Day on December 2 and 3 there's loads to do over the 48th UAE National Day

Celebrate history
If you’re in the capital, you’ll definitely not want to miss the official show for the 48th UAE National Day 2019. With stories told under the light of the moon, the massive show at Zayed Sports City that will reflect will celebrate the nation’s achievements, heritage and traditions. The celebration, named Legacy of our Ancestors, will feature immersive stories from the UAE’s past that use amazing effects, sounds and visuals to bring the tales to life on stage. A series of live performances will also take place at the event to celebrate the achievements of the UAE since its unification in 1971.

Book a staycations
With the public holidays revealed for the 48th UAE National Day 2019, Rove Hotels is offering a fittingly numbered discount on rooms, brunch and dining for its extra special flash sale.

From midnight on Monday December 2 until Tuesday December 3, Rove will have a 48-hour flash sale, offering 48 percent off bookings for stays between December 7 and 24.

Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Fountain shows
We’re always keen to watch the tallest tower in the world, along with its amazing The Dubai Fountain, put on a spectacular show, and this year’s UAE National Day celebration will be no different. To honour the occasion, residents, tourists and shoppers can check out Burj Khalifa’s special LED light show and The Dubai Fountain will be aglow with special shows every hour from 6pm until 9pm. Any reason to catch another spectacle of lights, we say.

Dig into a CrazyShake at Black Tap
Sweet tooth? The US burger joint is celebrating National Day with a shake in the colours of the UAE flag. The vanilla shake is layered with strawberry syrup, a chocolate frosted rim and lined with red, green and brown M&Ms. It’s then topped off with a giant cake slice loaded with whipped cream and crumbled pistachios.

Chip butty, anyone? If you’re after an actual taste of the 48th National Day, Burger & Lobster has just the special creation. For four days only, the burger joint in DIFC will be dishing out its ‘Chips Oman Burger’, a 6oz original burger served with a local Emirati twist. Priced at Dhs90, celebrators can expected beef patty topped with house made pickles, signature sauce and a crispy Chips Oman. Oh, and some biryani fries.

Founding Fathers Exhibition
Experience the UAE’s rich legacy captured in photographs at the new Founding Fathers exhibition at Etihad Museum, displaying memories introducing visitors to important periods in UAE’s history. Organised by the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, the Founding Fathers exhibition chronicles the country’s past and its ambitious evolution, commemorating the key moments that led to the Union’s establishment in December 1971.

Free-to-attend concerts
Some of the biggest starts around Dubai and beyond are set to perform not one, but four concerts in top sports around the city, and they’re all completely free to check out.

Who’s headlining? Emirati icons Balqees, Hussain Al Jassmi, Hamad Al Amri and Eida Al Menhali together with Kuwaiti star Essa Al Marzouq to dazzle fans at La Mer from 8.35pm at La Mer from Friday November 29 until Monday December 2, and at Global Village on National Day itself from 9pm.

Ketch Up Dubai
A popular choice of Ketch Up Dubai’s is of course it’s signature UAE burger, filled with flavours from the Middle East, and throughout UAE National Day weekend, you can get a special deal on it. 

For Dhs75 from Saturday November 30 until Monday December 2, tuck into a juicy beef halloumi and mint burger, coupled along with chunky potato wedges and a drink of your choice. Not a bad way to celebrate.

Studio One Hotel
It’s the long weekend, so why not stay over at the Studio One Hotel for two nights? Especially since it’s priced at Dhs480 just to celebrate National Day.

Super Sports Run 10 Miler 2
The ongoing 10 Miler season returns, the second of five races, but this time it’s a UAE National Day special. Know what that means? Runners are encouraged to wear the UAE flag or its colours (or both) loud and proud. Don’t think you can hack the 16km during the start of the long weekend? Not to worry, as runners can also join the 3km, 5km or 10km as well. If you’re looking to celebrate while sweating it out, look no further.

Tanuki
The colours of the UAE Flag make for a fantastic (and delicious) set up for Tanuki, and it’s taking full advantage of the special day with a limited-time Flag Day sushi platter.

From Saturday November 30 until Monday December 2, foodies can get a platter filled with rolls of California, wasabi tempura prawn, spicy maguro and sake california presented in the shape of the UAE flag.
