Mall of the Emirates throwing huge Chinese New Year celebrations

Chinese New Year 2020 is all about good fortune and spending time with the family, so it’s a good thing Mall of the Emirates will be celebrating both this week.

The hugely popular mall is throwing week-long celebrations to ring in The Year of the Rat, with an array of experiences, prizes and traditional entertainment. Oh, and there's physical fortune up for grabs.

Kicking off today (Sunday January 26) until Saturday February 1, shoppers can expect plenty of roaming entertainment, including colourful dancing dragons performing against a musical backdrop each day.

Best to stay watching them, as the dragons will surprise a select few shoppers with a ‘hóngbāo’ (traditional red envelope) with rewards in packets, too.

There’s also plenty of chances to win big, as the mall is offering several opportunities to win cash prizes.

Celebrating the lucky numbers this Chinese New Year, There’s a whopping Dhs12,000 up for grabs each day for celebrators who spend Dhs1,000 at any outlet.

That’s not all, as shoppers that spend Dhs500 in any shop will instantly get a red packet with a surprise item from participating retailers at the mall. We’re intrigued.

“Chinese New Year is such a vibrant festival, and we are thrilled to celebrate this year alongside our community,” said director of Mall of the Emirates Hussain Moosa.

“Mall of the Emirates has always been involved in cultural engagement, and on this occasion, our Chinese visitors can not only feel a little bit more at home within the mall, but also make the celebration unique to their experience in Dubai.”
