St. Patrick's Day 2020 in Dubai: where to celebrate

St Patrick's Day 2020 is coming and Dubai is getting ready with loads of things to do.

With lively nights out boasting live bands from the Emerald Isle, to Paddy’s Day specials, we’re spoilt for choice to take on Dubai-style lock-ins.

We’ll keep you updated on all the latest celebrations, so watch this site for more events to come.

Black Goose
The Sheraton JBR’s sports bar Black Goose is hosting an array of festivities to celebrate the big green day. In fact, it’s recommended to dress up in green for it’s St Patrick’s Day celebration. The bar will feature traditional Irish beverages, with those who come in a group of four getting one for free, along with top grub including including Irish veal stew, Irish inspired nachos, clover sliders and shepherd’s pie. Even better for guests lucky enough to be named 'Patrick', they will be treated to one main course and one house beverage on the house.

JB's Gastropub
Amwaj Rotana’s popular gastropub is hosting a week-long St. Patrick’s celebration, and there are plenty of deals going around to keep you coming back. Expect a special menu of Irish dishes such as Galway oysters, classic Dublin coddle, smoked salmon and soda bread toast and for a sweet finish, a cheesecake, Irish apple cake and Irish potato candies. There’s also a  three-for-one deal on a selected Irish beverages and dark hops all week long.

Joe’s Backyard
Dubai Festival City rooftop spot is marking St Patrick’s Day with a special deal, where celebrators can get a traditional beef Irish Stew with colcannon mash and two-pint package for Dhs99. There’s also an à la carte menu, including a black-Angus rib eye or an American striploin.

Lock, Stock and Barrel
While Dubai can definitely celebrate St. Patrick’s Day is all of its glory, there’s nothing quite like heading back to the Emerald Isle. Well, Lock, Stock and Barrel in JBR and Barsha Heights is throwing a massive St. Patrick’s Day ladies’ night, and it’s offering a chance to win two return tickets to Dublin. Neat. Along with getting a free drink on arrival, plus three drinks for ladies, there will also be a barber on site, offering free haircuts. Nicer. Everyone will get a raffle ticket, which offers everyone the chance to get exciting prizes from Dhs1,000 bar tabs, brunch for four, unlimited Irish drinks and the free flights.

McGettigan’s JBR
Why celebrate one day of St. Patrick’s Day when you can have a week-long celebration instead? McGettigan’s JBR at Hilton Dubai Jumeirah is gearing up for its biggest festival of the season, with 30 percent off Irish stew and pie throughout the week, along with a lively Thursday and Friday party till late featuring selected Irish drinks at Dhs17. Fun-filled experiences, musical treats and transformed pub awaits.

McGettigan’s Souk Madinat Jumeirah
Taking place a little bit earlier this year, McGettigan’s is getting ready to host two big gigs stuffed full of massive Irish bands on back-to-back evenings. On Thursday March 12 and Friday 13 from 5.30pm, McGettigan’s Souk Madinat Jumeirah is taking over the Souk Madinat Amphitheatre. The Ultimate Paddy’s Party will have local bands warming up throughout the evening before Hermitage Green hit the stage and, finally, The Coronas return to Dubai for a night of Irish indie-rock. Rose & Crown
Great music, Irish specials, Irish drinks, games, quiz night, special surprises – keen on all these things to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? You’ll want to head down to the Rose & Crown. Celebrators can expect week-long events, including a quiz night to kick it all off on Sunday March 15, traditional Irish tunes, chef’s St. Paddy specials like pies, stews, coddle and more at discounted prices, along with chilled brews, Irish drinks and green house beverages with a special surprise in each one. We’re intrigued.

Stars n Bars
La Mer’s top sports bar has revealed a big St Patricks Day celebration, just so everyone can be a little Irish for the day. Expect a menu with a traditional shepherds pie paired with a green pint for Dhs69. That’s right, all the pints will have a bit of green all day long.

The Duck Hook
May all the, erm, ‘duck’ of the Irish be with you, as gastropub The Duck Hook is putting on a special St. Patrick’s Day celebration worth talking about. Serving up a menu with an Irish twist, foodies can expect special dishes including corn beef hash with crispy hen’s egg, Irish stew served in bread bowl and chocolate cake topped with Irish ice cream. All that plus a cold pint. Also, anyone playing a round of golf at Dubai Hills Golf Club will be able to enjoy two pints alongside an Irish stew.

Think you’ve got the luck of the Irish? You'll need that, and a hearty appetite, for this challenge. Get yourselves down to ubk in Jumeirah Lakes Towers and tackle the “monster” hot dog eating challenge. The one-metre long hot dog is served in a green bun to celebrate St. Patricks’s Day and will be available from Sunday March 15 until Saturday March 21.
