Love Dubai's Souk Madinat Jumeirah’s culinary scene and keen on learning its home-grown secrets? This food festival is for you.
Dubai’s iconic Arabian bazaar is set to host an all-new Homegrown@Souk food festival, showcasing the city the eco-friendly culinary possibilities of cooking.
Kicking off this weekend on Friday February 28 until Saturday March 7, the week-long foodie celebration will include two exclusive VeggiTech Markets, where visitors can shop for healthy and locally sourced produce.
Catering for up to 1,000 visitors per week, shoppers at the VeggiTech Markets can pick up free ingredients for one of three special recipe cards and engage with homegrown producers to learn more about the produce options grown within a 50-mile radius of Souk Madinat Jumeirah.
Even better, all shoppers will be given a free tote bag – all to eliminate plastic.
That’s not all, as there’s also a week-long schedule of masterclasses kicking off on Friday at popular spots around Madinat Jumeirah for those looking to learn how to whip up a fine feast.
Highlights for the list of classes include a ‘Grow Well’ class for families at Trattoria Toscana, an ‘origins stories’ beverage session at McGettigan’s, a masterclass in fizz at The Meat Co., along with a curry pairing masterclass at Indian restaurant Ushna.
Foodies can also expect Souk Restaurant Week, offering up diners the chance to experience a range of top venues through a specially curated menus.
Throughout the week, there will be three special set menu options priced at Dhs99, Dhs149 or Dhs199, featuring select dishes and drinks using locally sourced ingredients.
Venues include folly by Nick and Scott, which won best European at our Restaurant Awards 2020, along with Americano, Trader Vic’s, The Noodle House, Segreto, Perry & Blackwelder’s and more.
“The Homegrown@Souk event has been conceived to showcase Souk Madinat Jumeirah’s credentials as a market-leading food and beverage destination with a conscience, and to build on its stand-ing as one of Dubai’s most iconic leisure and entertainment-led retail destinations,” said marketing director at Dubai Retail and Sarood Hospitality Nicola Walsh.
