Watch Coldplay’s Chris Martin perform an at-home concert on Instagram Live

Staying inside right now? While you might be waiting for the new dates set out from concerts and events taking place across the city, charity Global Citizen has launched a series of at-home live-stream concerts featuring some musical superstars.

Dubbed the “Solidarity Sessions: Together, At Home”, Global Citizen festival curator and frontman of Coldplay, Chris Martin, kicked off the first gig in the series on the band’s Instagram account.

You can watch the full set below, courtesy of the official Coldplay YouTube channel. Accompanied by a piano, his acoustic guitar and thousands of people watching remotely, Martin goes through tracks including Yellow, Viva La Vida, A Sky Full of Stars and more during a 30-minute, stripped back set full of anecdotes.

Next up is John Legend, who tweeted:

His set will be going up today (Tuesday March 17) at 1pm Pacific Time, which is midnight in the UAE.

Later this week, Dubai-based bar band Big Mouth will be performing a live gig online and streaming it through social media – check out what’s happening here.

Elsewhere on Instagram, concert cellist Yo-Yo Ma is helping to sooth people by playing a range of “Songs of Comfort”.

“In these days of anxiety, I wanted to find a way to continue to share some of the music that gives me comfort,” he posted. “The first of my #SongsOfComfort is Dvořák’s Going Home. Stay safe.”
