From pies to pizzas, birthday cake to babka, your submissions for Rate My Bake have been brilliant.

As well as posting all the images you’ve sent in in a gallery here, each week we’re sending a selection to the judges to rate.

And here is the second batch to have made it to the judges. Is your bake one of them? See what the judges had to say below.

Caroline Vanat’s traditional tresse bread

Time Out Dubai Rate My Bake
Marc Hayes, Lurpak
Rating: 4/5

This is a beautifully baked tresse with a golden crust and what looks like a soft, light, slightly sweet centre.

Sahar Parham, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah
Rating 3/5

The bread looks like it is completely cooked through and holds its shape well when cut. It’s a great use of butter for a brioche-like bread that requires a good quality butter and there’s a beautiful colour to the outside. The braiding needs a bit more work to get a beautiful “tresse”. Some creativity in shape or flavour would have been nice to see.

Alex Stumpf, BB Social Dining
Rating: 3/5

It looks soft in the picture, but because it hasn’t risen very much during baking it’s lost a bit of the nice shape it could have had.

Amy Mathieson, Time Out Dubai
Rating: 4/5

This is a challenging bake and looks impressive. It looks light in the centre and nicely golden on the outside. With a little more uniformity in the braiding this would be even better.

Tamara Parker’s chocolate brownies and chocolate chip cookies

Time Out Dubai Rate My Bake
Marc Hayes, Lurpak
Rating: 4/5

Crisp chocolate chip cookies and gooey brownies are so simple but satisfying. Enjoyed with a glass of milk there are few things more rewarding.

Sahar Parham, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah
Rating: 2/5

A classic choice, however the cookies and brownies lack a little creativity for me.

Izu Ani, GAIA and carine
Rating: 4/5

Lovely use of chocolate, the brownie looks crisp on the outside and moist in the middle which can be hard to achieve. The cookie also has a good texture, crunchy yet soft and chewy.

Alex Stumpf, BB Social Dining
Rating 3/5

It’s a shame the brownie has been cut in pieces and just added icing sugar on top, as while I’m sure it’s good it's hard to judge what it's really like. Both bakes could do with being a bit more creative.

Amy Mathieson, Time Out Dubai
Rating: 4/5

This was one of the very first entries to the competition, so points for being quick off the mark. Two classic options, the cookie especially looks nicely cracked on top and packed with chocolate chips.

Syahirah Adenan’s Nutella tarts

Time Out Dubai Rate My Bake
Marc Hayes, Lurpak
Rating: 5/5

These crisp golden tarts with Nutella are sure to be a favourite with everyone.

Sahar Parham, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah
Rating: 3.5/5

This is a creative way to present the tarts. It is aesthetically pleasing and good use of moulds. I also notice good and clean piping skills with the chocolate.

Izu Ani, GAIA and carine
Rating: 4/5

Beautiful shape and consistency. The tarts look buttery and crisp and I love the attention to detail.

Alex Stumpf, BB Social Dining
Rating: 2/5

Cute little cookies rather than tarts, simple and playful.

Amy Mathieson, Time Out Dubai
Rating 4.5/5

These are super-cute and are prettily presented. They are consistent in size, shape and the amount of Nutella topping, and the piping is carefully done.

Pamela Pereya, cheese rolls

Time Out Dubai Rate My Bake
Marc Hayes, Lurpak
Rating: 4/5

Light and fluffy cheese perfection

Sahar Parham, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah
Rating: 4/5

The degree of colour on the rolls look like they have been baked perfectly and evenly. The sizes are all uniform, which is wonderful to see. I can see that the rolls are dusted in sugar, I always enjoy the combination of sweet and savory as it makes any dish moreish.

Izu Ani, GAIA and carine
Rating: 3/5

Good colour and flour dusting. The type of cheese is the most important aspect of a cheese roll, it impacts the flavour and texture so make sure you choose wisely.”

Alex Stumpf, BB Social Dining
Rating: 3/5

These look soft and beautiful for TV snacking or canapés. I’m wondering how much cheese is inside, though.

Amy Mathieson, Time Out Dubai
Rating: 4/5

These look wonderfully soft and moreish.

Angelica Nayad’s cheese and ube pandesal

Time Out Dubai Rate My Bake
Marc Hayes, Lurpak
Rating: 4/5
These look like gorgeously soft pandesal, oozing with cheese and flavour.

Sahar Parham, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah
Rating: 5/5

The sizes of the bun are all uniform and the colour is on point with the ube. The cross section of the buns looked great with a proper ratio of cheese to bun. I also enjoyed seeing a surprise in there with the jam that I am sure added a complexity of flavor and texture.

Izu Ani, GAIA and carine
Rating: 2/5

These have a nice shape and use of flavours, try to work on creating fluffiness.

Alex Stumpf, BB Social Dining
Rating: 4/5

I’ve never had the chance to taste one of these before, but I’ve done my research. The bun has a stunning colour, it’s fluffy and has a nice filling.  The final touch is it’s rolled in bread crumbs. Yum.

Amy Mathieson, Time Out Dubai
Rating 5/5

This is a fun take on the traditional Filipino pandesal soft bread roll. The addition of ube (purple yam) gives these buns a vibrant colour, while they look light and fluffy. From the video (visit @timeoutdubai_food on Instagram) there’s a lovely cheese pull when torn open, too.
