Angelica Flores’ peaches and cream cake

Marc Hayes, Lurpak

Rating: 4/5
This is a stunning looking cake and has all the elements. It looks well baked, has a lovely topping and even a garnish.

Rating: 4.5/5
A beautiful cake, use of ingredients and aesthetic, good job.

Sahar Parham Al Awadhi, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah
Rating: 5/5
Well done on the even layers of cake and filling. I like the fact that it’s a naked cake and I can see what I am about to eat. Looks really light and refreshing. I love use of seasonal ingredients as always. And it is very well constructed.

This is a summery looking cake. The well baked sponge bases are evenly cut and have a nice, even colour on the outside rings. The assembly looks delicious.

This is beautifully styled, top marks for presentation. It’s visually impressive and the cake itself looks light and nicely baked.

Neha Sadana’s coffee and cinnamon rolls

Marc Hayes, Lurpak

Rating: 4/5
These are one of my favourite things to bake and the butter cream is lots of fun to make too. The coffee in the glaze is a nice touch.

Izu Ani, GAIA and carine
Rating: 3.5/5
Nice swirl, could be a little more generous and consistent with the glaze next time.

Sahar Parham Al Awadhi, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah
Rating: Rolls 4/5
I like the combination of the coffee and cinnamon, it adds an extra depth of flavour. The rolls are very clean and even. I can't seem to see the coffee glaze though.

Alex Stumpf, BB Social & Dining
Rating: 4/5
Creative idea to add coffee glazing on the rolls. The shape, colour and glazing are smooth and the way I expected. I hope that the rolls are not overpacked so might have turned dry, that would be a disaster.

Amy Mathieson, Time Out Dubai
Rating: 4/5
The flavour combination is a lovely idea, I imagine these would be delicious warm. They could be more uniform in size and with a touch more glaze, but they look nicely baked and that they would pull apart well.

Hosam Agwa’s focaccia

Marc Hayes, Lurpak

Rating: 3/5
Nothing beats the aroma of freshly baked focaccia in the kitchen, this one could have used a bit more time in the proof stage to get those lovely air pockets.

Izu Ani, GAIA and carine
Rating: 4/5
Good air-pockets and toppings, try to work on achieving a crunchier crust.

Sahar Parham Al Awadhi, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah
Rating: 2/5
Great effort, however, looks very undercooked (top and bottom). Focaccia should have a tiny bit more color. This one looks a little raw on top, perhaps it needed a few more minutes.

Alex Stumpf, BB Social & Dining
Rating: 3/5
The Traditional Focaccia the world is fighting on how it’s done correctly, in my opinion the one here is lacking on a slight crust on the top and with it comes the missing colour, yet the dough looks soft and most importantly it does not look dry.

Amy Mathieson, Time Out Dubai
Rating: 3/5
This looks a little pale in colour on the top, but the addition of the tomatoes, olives and herbs is creative.

Sammira Mohiadeen’s garlic butter naan @SamBay4474

Marc Hayes, Lurpak

Rating: 3/5
Butter naan is such a comfort food and no curry is ever complete for me without it.

Izu Ani, GAIA and carine
Rating: 4/5
Good texture, use of herbs and moisture.

Sahar Parham Al Awadhi, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah
Rating: 3/5
Lovely effort and I am sure it smelled great. The naan has a nice char on it that I am sure lends more flavour.

Alex Stumpf, BB Social & Dining
Rating: 4/5
I have never made naan myself, but I’ve watched my mother in law many times. The technique is what makes the difference. It’s hard to judge this one, but I like the effort made here to add chopped parsley. It’s well toasted, which is important to give the right flavour. Also, as you can see here a hot pan is a must to achieve the air-bubbles while you press and turn the naan during baking.

This looks like the ideal combination of chewy and crispy. The air pockets have blistered nicely and I imagine it’s really tasty.

Sofia Zachariou’s Greek orange tart

Marc Hayes, Lurpak

Rating: 3/5
There is something so satisfying watching a warm pie come out of the oven and soak up all that orange syrup you pour over it, the only thing missing here is some ice cream.

Izu Ani, GAIA and carine
Rating: 3/5
This is one of my favourite desserts. The trick is to keep the moisture but ensure a light, fluffy consistency.

Sahar Parham Al Awadhi, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah
Rating: 2/5
A lovely effort. The cake looks moist and flavourful, however lacks some creativity in presentation

Alex Stumpf, BB Social & Dining
Rating: 4/5
Orange cake wow, summer really has arrived in these past two rounds of bakes. This one here looks delicious, it’s a very traditional cake, which is soaked in a syrup. It looks well baked and golden brown on the top. It looks well soaked and has a classic garnish.

Amy Mathieson, Time Out Dubai
Rating: 4/5
This looks gorgeously sticky and sweet. I like the simple, classic presentation, I’d just hope it’s not too dense at the bottom.
