Rate My Bake: the top five sweet bakes

As people around the world spent more time in the kitchen at the start of 2020, baking became a top pastime. So we decided to launch Time Out Dubai’s Rate My Bake, in association with Lurpak, to see what you’ve been whipping up here in Dubai.

And your entries have been fantastic.As well as posting entries from everyone who's sent an image here (and there are nearly 200), each week we’ve sending a selection to the judges to rate. The entries and feedback has been brilliant, with some top tips to take away for future baking from our expert panel.

At the start of Rate My Bake we asked people to post their photos including the Lurpak product they used in baking, to be in with the chance of winning a special prize, as chosen by Lurpak. Two winners, one sweet and one savoury, win the prize.

Marc Hayes from Lurpak has spent hours going through the entries, picking the best sweet and savoury treats that included a Lurpak product.

At the weekend we announced the winner of the savoury category here. And below is the winner of the sweet category, who wins a year's supply of Lurpak, plus afternoon tea for two courtesy of Jumeirah.

And the winner is…

Nicola Barber’s vanilla New York cheesecake

Marc Hayes from Lurpak says:

“I really love the perfection of this baked cheesecake, golden brown crumbly crust that’s not too thick, slowly-baked and gently set without any cracks takes more skill thank you think. The passion fruit is also the perfect flavour to pair with the rich, sweet and tangy cream cheese in the cake.
