Dubai residents planning on travelling outside of the UAE this summer must now apply for permission to return before booking a flight.
The change in procedure is included the Flying You Home section of the Emirates Airline website.
It says that passengers must submit an online form to Dubai's immigration service, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) before booking a flight.
The website for submitting an application is here.
You need to enter your UAE visa number and destination during the application process and confirm that if you test positive for COVID-19 upon return, you'll bear the expense of treatment and/or quarantine through health insurance or paying yourself.
Successful applicants will be given a reference number needed to book flights.
If you do not hold a Dubai visa, this does not apply.
It's necessary for all Dubai residents to apply for the permission, regardless of when they're planning on coming back to the emirate.
It is the same process that those who were outside of the country during the lockdown period had to go through.
Upon return to Dubai, everyone will be tested for COVID-19 and follow the quarantine rules as they stand at that time, including downloading the Al Hosn app.
Emirates has announced the relaunching of more than 40 routes recently. Budget airline flydubai has also announced flights have started again.
Tourists are also allowed to come to Dubai from July 7.
