Kerala: the land of waves, wildlife and waterfalls

Explore this beautiful south Indian state

Rest of the world

From beaches to backwaters, Kerala is full of adventures. Niched in the country’s peninsula, it’s the southernmost state in India. It’s known for being home to some the most traditional Ayurveda centres, too, and is an ideal spot for a proper getaway. Prepare to be pampered and immersed in amazing experiences, to eat meals that are full of flavour and spice and to absorb true South Indian culture.

Alleppey must not be missed. See the city with a serene ride through Kerala’s famous backwaters from the deck of a houseboat, an experience that really captures the true essence of the country’s culture. The lively boat race, usually held during summer, is also worth watching.

Also to add to your itinerary is Varkala, a beach located in the north border of the Trivandrum district of south Kerala, with winding stretches of sand and imposing cliffs packed with coconut trees. It’s famous among tourists and is well known as one of the best in the area. The combination of the dunes and the sandy beach makes it the perfect spot for a stroll.

From forts to lighthouses, Varkala is teeming with spots to amaze tourists.
