This staycation spot is 15 degrees cooler than Dubai

Cool down during Dubai’s hottest months at this luxurious Oman resort

If you’re feeling the heat this summer and looking for an escape, you don’t have to travel far.

The Alila Jabal Akhdar Resort in Oman boasts a temperature up to 15oC cooler than Dubai, and if that’s not enough the prices have been reduced exclusively this summer. Weekday prices are now set at OMR99 (Dhs944) per room per night, or OMR119 (Dhs1,135) on weekends and include complimentary health and fitness services.

There’s an infinity pool peering over the mountain’s edge and a spa featuring locally inspired treatments, from foot baths to red clay facials, ground coffee to herbal tea, you can chill out from sunrise to sunset.

With temperatures sitting at a balmy 30oC during the summer, the region presents a welcome retreat from Dubai’s scorching temperatures. Not only does it promise a cooler climate, but countless weekday discounts too, including 15 percent off spa and leisure services, plus complimentary yoga sessions and upgrades, plus two kids under the age of 12 can stay free with each booking.

Situated approximately three-and-a-half-hours from the UAE border, the resort sits 2,000 metres above sea level, offering some great views of the Al Hajar Mountains. The fact you’ll need to ride in a 4x4 to get there should give you an idea of its seclusion. (Don’t worry, transfers can be arranged.)

Jabal Akhdar translates to “Green Mountain” in Arabic and is known as the fruit bowl of Oman due to its consistent ability to grow fruits during the winter’s rainy season. Moreover the hotel makes full use of all food produce from farms in the area, so you’re guaranteed some fresh eats.

Alila Jabal Akhdar has become a popular resort for active tourists due to its accessibility to sports and yoga sessions, its location and authentic Omani art work that adorns the walls, making your vacation feel that much more real.

It’s time to book a long weekend, but do it before the offer ends on September 30.
From Dhs944 per room per night. Until September 30. Alila Jabal Akhdar Resort, Jabal Akhdar, Al Hajar Mountains, Oman, (+968 2534 4200).
