Dubai transit rule change means connecting tourists can leave airport

Get out and explore Dubai instead of waiting in the lounge

Tourists with a connecting flight in the UAE will soon be able to leave the airport and explore the city with a new transit permit scheme.

Currently, passengers need to wait in the airport for the next leg of the journey.

But tourism bosses want them to be able to get out and see what Dubai has to offer.

The move is aimed at boosting tourism revenue and the local economy.

There has not yet been a date announced for the introduction of the new initiative.

But it is expected to be given the green light by the government sooner rather than later.

A few hours might not sound like a lot of time to explore, but Dubai has got plenty of attractions you can see on a tight schedule, such as the Burj Khalifa or a whistlestop tour of Old Dubai.
