Cure your fear of flying in Dubai with this BA course

Three-hour course on Friday June 1 will leave you ready to jet-set

Do you get all jittery when you’re boarding a plane?

Having a fear of flying can be pretty prohibitive when you live in Dubai, considering it’s a rather lengthy flight to practically anywhere outside the region.

Well, perhaps your fears may soon come to an end, because British Airways has announced the return of its cure-your-aviophobia training course, which is coming to Dubai this weekend.

For nervous fliers, the BA Flying With Confidence course should be top of your list if you’ve got, perhaps, a weekend away or summer holiday coming up.

For Dhs1,499 (pretty tremendous value if you ask us), you’ll be able to join the course – which is taking place on Friday June 1 from 10am until 1pm.

According to some BA research, one in five UAE residents identify themselves as having a fear of flying (otherwise known as aviophobia, or aerophobia).

The course, hosted at the Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai on Sheikh Zayed Road, is split into two sessions over a single day, and is run by the airline’s very own cabin crew and pilots.

It addresses the most common causes of nerves, fear, apprehension (and, for us, palpitations), including turbulence (shudder), the technical aspects of the aircraft and various elements of air travel.

You’ll also be taught some new breathing techniques to help keep you calm, and allow you to enjoy the flight, with BA Captain Steve Allright leading the sessions, a man who has successfully helped more than 50,000 course attendees get over their fears.

If you do head along, and we’d recommend it, you’ll also get a ten percent discount on any BA flight in any cabin class. Just head to to book your place.

Time to spread your wings and learn to fly (sorry).
