It could mean a whole host of new holiday destinations

It's been a bumper year for flights from the UAE, with major new routes including Helsinki, Croatia and Edinburgh.

And now there's another exciting announcement in the pipeline, with official discussions underway about increasing the number of direct flights to Canada.

That's right – you could soon be jetting off to the land of maple syrup and Celine Dion, with the journey taking just over 12 hours.

Top tourist hotspots in the country include the charming city of Quebec and Vancouver with its modern blend of international culture.

Emirates already offers one service between the UAE and Toronto, but the latest discussions pave the way for new destinations to be added.

The development was discussed by UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri and Canadian Transport Minister Marc Garneau during a recent meeting.

If all goes to plan, you could soon be adding Canada to your holiday list.

For now, you'll just need to settle for the (incredible) Canadian breakfasts at Eggspectation in JBR.

Eid is expected to fall on Tuesday August 21 and run until Friday August 24

The break will last from Monday August 20 until Wednesday August 22

The directive for the week-long break came from the UAE cabinet

The summer promotion lasts until Friday August 17

Face-painting and vouchers are part of kids’ line-up

The new nightclub also has a "hidden" room for its post-brunch bash
